Instagram focuses on the image. Initially, users were only able to post pictures, but Instagram has since enabled video posts as well. People aren’t writing blogs on Instagram; posts aren't long. Rather, posts are short and filled with buzzwords and keywords in the form of hashtags. Instagram really emphasizes the old cliché; a picture is worth a thousand words.
Overall, Instagram is incredibly easy and intuitive to use. It has a clean, minimalistic interface with only five main menu options that can be found at the bottom of the screen. Some of the most attractive features in Instagram are:
Instagram recently released a feature called Stories, that other social media platforms have variations of. Short snippets of your day posted in rapid succession for all your followers to view. Now, you can post pictures or videos to your story and it appears at the top of the home screen, conveniently available for your followers to watch. After 24 hours, the images are gone.
One really cool aspect of this new feature is that you can see how many people viewed that story, which, over time, allows you to determine what type of content is most popular with your followers.
Bloggers, celebrities, and even your average Joe are taking advantage of the new stories feature to gain the widest audience reach for their content. Instagram is a great social media platform to use to connect with consumers and will help your business establish an online presence, enable you to engage with your consumers/clients in a more personal way, and provide an avenue for advertising your business and product.
