Staying Ahead: Continuous Learning

We are all where we are now because of what we have experienced through the course of our lives. These experiences – whether it be school, jobs, relationships, etc. – have all been a learning experience.

Staying ahead: continuous learning

We are all where we are now because of what we have experienced through the course of our lives. These experiences – whether it be school, jobs, relationships, etc. – have all been a learning experience.

Agreed? Good.

To continue to learn is to continue to grow. If we are not growing, changing or adapting to life, we might as well be dying. It doesn’t matter if you’re an employee working for a small company or the CEO of a multi-million dollar company. People are always learning ways to better themselves every day. If you are not happy with what you’re doing and you want more out of life, then stop complaining about it and do something. Get up and go learn about what you want, so you can do it! Seriously, you can learn anything from  How to hit a golf ball to How to Speak Portuguese by just searching for videos on YouTube. It’s literally that easy.

It is important to grasp the concept of continuous learning – staying up-to-date and keeping up with the trends of society. This can mean reading the newspaper, subscribing to a newsletter, taking a course, attending a seminar or conference, the list goes on. My point is, I truly believe that if you’re actively learning and bettering yourself with that education then you will live a much happier life, you will be more productive, and you will be doing something you love… because you actively sought out what interests you and you became an expert in it.

You never know when the information you learn is going to come up. For me, I’ve been doing graphic design and small web projects since high school and never really took it seriously. I kept up with the trends though and kept up with my work, I even took it a step further recently and signed up for a few newsletters. Why does this matter? Because this is what I do for a living now. I thought being a MD was my dream *sigh* but realized helping people is my dream and art is my passion! Continuous learning involved in this industry is extremely important. Things are constantly changing, just like every other industry out there. Technology is getting better and generations after us are exposed so much more material at a younger age. If you’re not staying ahead of the game, someone else is catching up.

Don’t be the one that gets passed by, be the one that gets looked towards.
