In our last blog, we wrote about the “Best Facebook Content Ever.” There are certain rules that you must follow if you want to succeed in the world of social media and digital marketing. These rules outline the basics in how to post effectively with or without pictures, how to phrase your posts appropriately, and how to really let your personality shine!

Once you’ve mastered all of these things, you will see that your web traffic will increase as well as your social interactions!

  1. Pictures

Pictures catch people’s eyes. Because of this, it is very important that you add some pictures from time to time in order to build your Twitter photo portfolio. When someone clicks on an interesting photo, it helps to have multiple pictures already on your account so that they can see that you are frequently updating. Pictures should not be part of every post, like they should with Facebook, but they are absolutely necessary for Twitter success.

  1. Phrasing

Words are very important when it comes to Twitter (you only get 140 characters). In every post, you should show off your personality. If you’re formal, then be formal, of your informal then be informal. Be consistent. It is worth mentioning, though, that informal, and funny language draws more interaction than posts that are monotone or too formal.

  1. Hashtags

We actually wrote and entire article on when you should hashtag and how to hashtag effectively on any social media platform, but for the purposes of this blog, we’ll recap. First, posts with over 2 hashtags tend to see less integration than those with 2 or under. Also, when you’re trying to draw clicks to a call-to-action link, it is actually better to not include hashtags, which could actually be distracting. Otherwise, you should almost always use hashtags, and frequently update the ones you do use.

  1. Interaction

Your Twitter will live and die by interaction. Funny verbiage definitely helps to drive likes and retweets, but one method of driving interaction may surprise you: Just Ask.

For instance (for a restaurant):

“We love the smell of bacon in the morning, RT if you love bacon too! #bacon #goodmorning”

According to Twitter, itself, your posts should consist of 80% Retweets and Favorites and 20% your actual content. As with all interaction, be prompt in your replies and full of personality!
